On This Imbolc

As the weather would have it, today is a rainy day. After a fairly dry Winter, rains arrived yesterday, and it's looking like a few more days of soaking are in order. Tradition says that it would be a bad day for collecting firewood, and thus it will be a short Winter.

Sweet!

It is far more enjoyable to be out in the rain when not hauling firewood, and hauling firewood is far more enjoyable on days when it is dry and warm. :)

without further blathering, here is a bit of the day

Sipclick

a cup of coffee in a water soaked dirt driveway The sound of rain on the roof, while laying in a toasty bed, is intoxicating. Alas, the farm doesn't care how comfortable I am, and critters want snacks.

Hot damn, it is nice to have warm cuppa coffee with me in the morning rain.

So Statuesque

two 20ft tall concrete statues of warrior women next to a road. One is standing using a bow and arrow, the other is kneeling and holding a spear. There is a warehouse behind the statues. The sky is overcast and everything is wet. There was a trip to a nearby town, that included some shopping, and lunch near the big statues.

Bloomscrolling

clusters of budding flowers on a rains soaked branch. Most of the flowers have not yet opened. Well I sure hope it is a short Winter. Ok, not really, but if there is a Winter frost, all of these flowers will die, and there will be no fruit on this tree. It should be noted however, that this tree had been abused by the sheep and never really produced any fruit. I don't even know what kind of fruit tree it is. Maybe a pear.

Upon this Caturday

2 sweet kitty cats lounging on a cushy chair That's the life. Relaxing inside by a toasty wood stove.

A bit of rain

an outdoor analog rain gauge showing a level of 1.75 inches Yesterday evening I emptied this rain gauge. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch alert for my area, so I'm curious to see if this storm system is going to max out my rain gauge.

it is times like this that I would really like to have a digital weather station at home with an easily accessible API. I should look for one.

Anyway, I'm now relaxing on a comfy chair with kitties.

cheers,
